Accessibility Statement

PROTOTYPE DOCUMENT: NOT LEGAL ADVICE, NOT YET REVIEWED BY A LAWYER

TradeTicket is a prototype, built to be demonstrated to a training provider, not deployed to real apprentices. This statement describes what we aim for and what we've built towards, not a certified or audited compliance result.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

TradeTicket is used by apprentices, employers, RTO/TAFE staff, and administrators, often on a phone, on-site, between jobs. We want it to be usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology.

We are continually improving the experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards as we build.

Standards We Aim For

TradeTicket is built with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as our target, and mobile-first from a 320px-wide screen up, since a lot of real use happens on a phone on-site. This is a target we build towards, not an independently audited certification. We have not had a formal accessibility audit performed on this prototype.

What We've Built In

Across the platform, we've aimed for:

  • Semantic HTML and a consistent heading hierarchy
  • Keyboard navigation throughout, with visible focus indicators
  • ARIA labels and landmarks on interactive and structural elements
  • Touch targets sized for on-site, one-handed phone use
  • Form labels and error messages properly associated with their controls
  • A responsive layout that works from a 320px-wide phone screen up to desktop
  • Screen-reader-only text (e.g. "Return to") alongside icon-only controls, so meaning doesn't depend on seeing the icon

Assistive Technology

We've built with common screen readers (such as VoiceOver and NVDA), keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom in mind, using current versions of major browsers. We have not run a systematic assistive-technology test matrix across every device and browser combination. That is manual, ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox.

Known Limitations

Said plainly, because testing will find these anyway:

  • There has been no automated or manual accessibility audit of this build. The standards above are a target, not a verified result.
  • PDF evidence files uploaded by apprentices are stored and displayed as-is; we do not check or improve their internal accessibility, since we don't control what a user uploads.
  • The progress views (the Experience and Demonstration donut charts, and the capstone readiness view) present information visually; the screen-reader-accessible equivalent of that same information has not been independently verified.
  • There is no automated or E2E test suite covering accessibility regressions. UI behaviour, including accessibility, has been checked manually rather than by a continuous automated suite.

We are committed to addressing these and welcome feedback on any accessibility barrier you encounter.

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of TradeTicket. If you encounter a barrier or have a suggestion, please contact us:

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include the page or feature where you encountered it, a description of the problem, the assistive technology you were using (if any), and your browser and operating system.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-off milestone. As this prototype moves towards a real product, that means an actual audit, a systematic assistive-technology test pass, and closing the gaps listed above, not just this statement getting longer.

This accessibility statement applies to the TradeTicket platform. We are dedicated to an inclusive experience for all users and will continue to improve it.
